Ken Update, and Vintage Finds around the house...

Found this old mannequin hand at a tiny little antique shop in Sharpsburg. Sweet to show off Alex's vintage rings at shows.
My office where I post from. Love my Mac!
Below, another great find with some little figurines walking out of the picture- or so I'd like to think:) This is a sweet oil painting by the yard sale owner's brother. What tremendous finds I found at that place! After her mother had passed her fantastic 1800's home sold so many wonderful treasures! The house was a cascade of unending stairs, rooms, baby grand pianos, etc. What a treat. That was about 8 years ago near where we used to live. The house sold for a very pretty penny.

I am not a 'barn' collector, but love the subtle hues in this oil painting.

Jeff, Ken's longtime,HS tennis team chum, accepting the Courage Award from the Mid-Atlantic Tennis and Education Foundation on Ken's behalf. At this event, local boy made good (on circuit w/the likes of Sampras,etc...), Paul Goldsten, (as well as 3 other individuals for their tennis contributions) was inducted into their Tennis Hall of Fame. Paul is such a lovely individual. Paul used to play at the club where hubby taught/was Dir. of Junior Tennis, and where Jeff still Directs the Tennis Dept..
Roses from Gammaflowers.com, at the tennis tournament for Ken. 5 days fresh from Ecuador! And The Succars, who own gammaflowers gifted us the same for our kitchen table. They are in the beautiful crystal vase given to Ken with the Courage Award.

...hahaha, and we have Paul Goldstein's box for the crystal vase. They mixed them up when we were leaving the Army Navy Country Club in Va. at the awards ceremony...which , by the way, was a very nice event. The mini crab cakes in the cocktail hour were devine, and the meal and everything else was so very nicely done.

Ken's Mom was able to come , too, which was very nice.
More about these events and Ken's life are at my other blog for him. Friends/family , just leave me a comment, email or call, if you have lost the link to his blog, as it is not connected here.

Thanx. xo Lydia

Some Cool Pics Saturday..............

One of Lara's neat nature shots.(c.LAG 2010)
Sevan found this cool call me telephone for my business cards. It also has a spot for a pen. Too cute, don't you think?

So Lara gave me my Christmas, Russian Christmas, birthday, and Mother's Day gift wrapped up all in one gift back in October I believe. It is a neat 1800's folk art dresser, which inspires me to create just looking at it. These 2 shots show some of its adorable 'Beauty and the Beast' (as Sevan says) aspects.(mess on the floor was from when we were cleaning it up upon bringing it into the house)...
What do you think? Cool pics or what?

Etsy Shop is Open!...and new Flickr pics are in

So Alex and I finally opened up the Lydia, Oh, Lydia! Art Etsy shop. Just click here to see more.

Royal Hoot Necklace now in the shop repurposed by Alex. The flower is vintage.
Vintage terrier box now in the shop. This is a vintage piece, as stated, but I decided to add more depth of interest by painting around the terrier decal w/a nice apple green paint, then age and distress it .
Vintage alligator belt. This came from my home. We used to wear it when younger. A very unique piece. Pardon the hair in the photo.
Cool blue stone like glass pendant on long vintage chain by Alex, now in the shop.
OK- This is simply stunning. It is from my Mom's house. It is a mother-of-pearl squiggly, moving fish, with some scallop trim, and another vintage bauble piece on a long vintage chain. They don't come any nicer than this. In the shop now.Hallie Charm Bracelet now in the shop. It is vintage and new repurposed by Alex. The aqua blue flower is from a vintage earring set.

Vintage altered measuring tape with vintage pictures on one side, and matching verse on the other. The pictures are from old postcards. They are now in the shop. These are definitely very cool, and so very useful! One-of-a-kind of course.
Gentleman Kitty on Block now in the shop.Inspiration Heart Pinkeep now in the shop.

So what do you do when you get 24-30 inches of snow? Shovel? haha...of course, at least 4-5x a day, and it snowed for almost 2 whole new days. Well, finally get off the bottom side to very 'patiently' upload photos of items for sale in Etsy.

I haven't made the new banner that I have in my head for months now. And if it weren't for Alex,. this might not have gotten done today. Since Larissa modeled the jewelry, we decided that today was as good a day as any to get things moving on the shop. Because of the weather, the internet wanted to be , should I say STUPID??? Ok, so we listed 5 of my items, and 5 of Alex's.

We are slowly learning things. Have to contact PayPal with some questions, but they are closed.

We want to join One World One Heart, and hope that we can make it in time for the 8 Feb. deadline-that, along with a gazillion other things,...

... and our 24 hr. care of hubby/their dad by all of us. How nice is it to have your entire family at your beck and call? He is tired, and catching up on needed sleep. Of course , we are stuffing him with all his favorite goodies, as much as possible. And he loves his Lingonberry juice from Ikea!
